Utah wild fish, mollusk and crustacean collection and possession course

Learn more about the rules that protect fish, mollusks and crustaceans that live in Utah.

The online orientation course includes educational material about Utah's fish, mollusk and crustacean species and conservation biology.

Who must take the course?

You are required to complete the course if you plan to do any one of the following activities:

  • Import, collect or possess a species that is classified as controlled or prohibited.
  • Apply for or acquire a fish, mollusk and crustacean certificate of registration.

Exam and certificate of completion

The online orientation course includes an exam. To successfully complete the course and obtain a certificate of completion, you must answer every exam question correctly. You have the opportunity to correct your responses if you answer any question incorrectly.

Once you have a certificate of completion — which is valid for one calendar year — you can apply for a certificate of registration. For detailed information about obtaining a certificate of registration, call Anita Candelaria at 801-538-4701.
