DWR K9s help track runaway juveniles and detect illegally caught fish

Although they recently finished training, two new Utah Division of Wildlife Resources K9 conservation officers are already hard at work. Last weekend, the officers successfully assisted other agencies with searches and caught people illegally fishing.

Don’t hike off the trails or bike at the Eccles Wildlife Education Center

You hear the warbling of a bird and turn to see an avocet near the shoreline. Several geese fly overhead and you smell the earthy marsh as you stroll through the wetlands in Farmington Bay. If you come to watch birds or get some exercise on the nature trail loop at the scenic George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Wildlife Education Center, please make sure to stay on the trails and remember that bicycles are not allowed.

Rule change simplifies collection of non-venomous native reptiles, amphibians

Spotting a lizard sunning itself on a rock adds a bit of excitement to any outdoor adventure. For some people, collecting amphibians or reptiles that they find in the wild is a popular activity. On Thursday, the Utah Wildlife Board approved a new rule that makes it easier to do just that.
